Project Description

PetroRabigh, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical, is a major petrochemical complex producing about 15MM tons of refined products and 5MM tons of petrochemical products per year.

SOMAC’s work on this distinguished project consisted of the procurement and construction of the PC2 Monomer Unit (monoethylene glycol and propylene oxide). Works covered all related civil, structural and architectural works including, among others, foundations (tank foundations, heavy reactor foundations, equipment foundations), waterlines (cooling, fire, drinking water, sewer), deep pits and structures (including the EO reactor, EO stripper, EC reactor, CO2 absorber, and MEG purification and air fin), construction of the Process Interface Buildings and Substation Buildings in both MEG and PO units with all necessary works (concrete, masonry, metals, wood and plastics, thermal and moisture protection, plumbing, sanitary, HVAC and electrical works, sewer and drainage works, doors and windows, finishing, specialty items, etc.), pipe racks and pipe tracks, pipe trenches, manholes, drainage U-ditches, asphalt roads, concrete paving and heavy haul roads including temporary bridge over pipeline
